I had requested one of the female-only rooms, but the first night I was there, it was definitely co-ed. (The second night I was the only person in the room, so it was irrelevant! The Duke is definitely the budget version of the Odesa Backpackers building, but the location is good and my fellow travellers were friendly.

This has to be one of the best if not The Best hostel I have ever stayed in. I would highly reccommend staying here for anyone and everyone. The Location is awesome, it is very clean and always alot of fun. Last but not least the staff are amazingly helpful and will go out of their way to do ANYTHING for you. Ian, Sveta, Helena, Nadya and the others do such a great job.. and I can't forget Anna who is best of all!! Good work guys, I love your hostel. Ill be back again!

The Duke was very convenient and the staff was exceptionally cordial and helpful. The physical state of the hostel is in need of renovation to bring it up to continental European standards. However, I would stay there again without any hesitation.
The staff did everything they could to make us feel at home. I was not expecting everything to be so nice. If I go back to Odessa I will definitely stay there again, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent location right in the historic city centre, in walking distance to most of the city's highlights. Clean rooms and a very friendly & helpful staff. Overall a great place to stay for a decent price. Minor setbacks at the moment of writing: problems with the water heater caused hot water to be unavailable at times, one (of two) showers were unavailable for maintenance and no locks on the main & room doors (there was a guard outside the building during the evening and night though).
The best hostel ever! Friendly, helpful, great rooms, everything was super!
