- “ The place claims to be a hotel, so they don't have kitchen nor lockers. Also there is no entertainment/game room, computers and wi-fi is only in the lobby, downstairs. They charge you more than $ 6 for towel rental, have small rooms with many bads, noisy heater, one slow elevator and a very old overall structure. The good point is definitely location. It's pretty central in NYC. But comparing to the other places I've stayed there so far, it's not worth the money. I wouldn't stay there again. ”

- “ I would not recommend Gershwin to anybody who cares for his money. I paid around 90 dollars per night and found it far too expensive for what I got, even for New Year´s Eve. There are two tiny hostel rooms with altogether 12 beds that share a bathroom and the entrance. There are no chairs or tables or small lights. The bedsheet and a towel cost 6 bucks and most of the people just slept with a blanket - very unhygienic. No breakfast, no kitchen, no lockers, no lounge room. Not comfortable at all. ”

- “ Hicham at the front desk made my night!!!!!! I went down to NYC for a party and really didn't need a room because I knew I wasn't going to sleep. So I booked a hostel bed which I usually do because it is cheaper. Hicham made my experience more like a hotel!!!! Gave me great advice to find places I needed and showed me on a map navigation. He was always greeting me with a smile when I came into the lobby! The doormen were really nice too! I will def be staying there more! ”

- “ The windows were NOT tight, so it was very cold in the room. Me and the other guest were freezing the whole night. Also the blankets were filmy and NOT warm enough for the temperatures in winter. Moreover it was very noisy during the night, because the beds were creaking. ”

- “ Decent location, about a 5 minute walk to the nearest train station. Wifi was working fine ”

- “ I booked a 6-persons dorm for a total of three days, but I only went there to sleep (from 12am to 5am). I did not use the shower, not even the bathroom, so I cannot really rate on that. But the bunk bed was very wobbly. I slept on the lower bed. I woke up all the time in the middle of the night worrying the bed will fall apart, especially when the upper person was moving and making this horrible squeaking sound. I booked the hotel very early, the price I paid was reasonable compare to others. ”

- “ When you arrive at this Hotel/Hostel it looks really stylish and nice. The receptionist ist very nice and they take care of the luggage if you're there before check-in (which is at 2pm). The location is nice, 4minutes away from the subway and the flatorion building. But as soon as you get in your room it's gross. It's dirty (floors, sheets, bathroom). The door doesn't shut properly and it's very loud at night. IN winter it gets really cold in the morning. It's not worth the money! ”

- “ Pros: Very good location. Cons: Wifi signal was terrible. Cannot access to internet when I am in the room. Shower was sometimes hot sometimes cold. Heater keeps making creazy noise during the night, cannot sleep. ”

- “ Great place, very cheap for its location. This actually is a hotel that is also renting dorms (the hostel part), so very good service. Artistic lobby, attracts open and artistic people, so good atmosphere. Only small lockers available (laptop size), originally meant for valuables (they even walk with you with a second key that is needed to open the locker). Bad wifi in dorms, good in lobby. They were booked quite full on some days even though it was November, so book early. ”

- “ I found a jewel in the middle of Manhattan!! What a surprise for the money! For $35.00 I got a room to share with only 3 other people, with our own bathroom. The place was spic and span; such colorful decor; great atmosphere; very trendy. The rooms, of course, are simple and basic but also very clean. Only weak point was that I had only luke warm water for my shower - but I did shower at 8 pm when everybody else does, so it would be a miracle for the hot water not to run out. ”

- “ Great Staff! Always ready to help and listen to any question or doubt! Lovely Art Déco Style! Very Nice People! Bad Dorms and Not enough Sheets and Blankets...No towels included, even though they should be. Lovely Lobby, with the piano and Art surrounding. Very cool coffee shop, but should be open after 9p.m...so that the hotel guests could use it. Excellent location in NYC. The wi-fi was always down. ”

- “ The mattress needed cleaning and I smelt this fungus like smell at the bedroom. The 8 bed room needs better ventilation and a better air conditioner. ”

- “ The Gershwin was a great stay. Nice dècor, baggage check in the lobby (even outside of check-in/out!), good area... I could go on and on forever! My one and only complaint: the top bunk could stand to be a teensy bit higher. And if all that wasn't enough, I got upgraded for free! due to a booking error from an eight-guy dorm to a two-guy dorm. Great place, nice people, uncomplicated! ”

- “ i staied there for a night at 8 beds dorm. they charge you for a towel $6,37... and check out time is 11am, not 12. don't think i'm gonna stay there again. ”
