The InnCrowd Backpackers Hostel 2 in Singapore, Singapore

I'd give good marks for the InnCrowd with one major exception: Bed Bugs! We stayed for several nights and I was bitten each night. For those that don't know, bed bugs are a serious problem ESPECIALLY if they get in your clothes and ride with you home. They are very difficult to get rid of and very unpleasant to have. Being in the industry for the last 7 years, we take prevention against bedbug infestation extremely seriously and have researched extensively into the subject. Bugs are inadvertently transferred from an infested location to another place by travellers' belongings. Infested locations can be accommodation, luggage holds, etc. Many new guests come through our doors each day, and some will have bugs and/or their eggs amongst their belongings. To ensure that our premises do not become infested, our premises are inspected and treated by Rentokil pest control company on a regular basis. In addition, our own maintenance crew inspect our premises daily to ensure any potential problems are nipped in the bud. We dismantle our metal beds routinely and pour boiling water onto all surfaces and into all crevices. Mattresses are heat treated. Jesse's bed was inspected and treated by Rentokil on the day he arrived before he checked in, and it was certified clean. The transference of bugs and/or their eggs to his bed probably occurred during his stay. Jesse stayed 6 nights and did not do his laundry here. If his belongings had come into contact with bugs and/or their eggs, they would have remained contaminated without a proper wash and dry, and could easily have been transferred to his bed. Jesse did not inform reception of his problem during his stay, or we would have taken immediate action to nip the problem in the bud. Since the problem was brought to our attention 2 days ago, we've dismantled the bed, scalded it with boiling water and treated it with specialised pesticide. The mattress has been replaced with a brand new one.

it is a pretty nice place to stay in Singapore. i strongly recommend! it is also quite clean in the room~and bathroom! the location to the MRT station isnt too far~ the staffs are friendly and helpful as well! wireless connection is pretty nice though~ if you are still looking for a budget accommodation in Singapore. you may consider this great hostel! Had such a great time and met so many people!great communal/breakfast area for chilling out and meeting people. Hot showers and air con to the point of being nicely cold at night. Staff all really nice and friendly and so clean. Would recommend to all! Georgina, from England ~ 7th May 2009
