A great hostel- brilliant breakfast, friendly staff, tv room with loads of DVDs, easy to book tours, and the location is 1 block from the beach! It´s also close to all amenities and the showers are fab. Good value for money in Rio and we would stay there again. The only downside is the size of the dorms- they are too small and there is no room for backpacks. We did not have a mosquito issue, but they took previous feedback on board and sprayed the rooms while we were there. Amandeep, from England ~ 14th Jun 2011

Love the hostel and the people there. Only downsides are, you can't drink your own alcohol in the social area and the bathrooms get a little dirty towards the evenings. BEST showers in South America and highly recommend it! Read Owner Comments Robert, from England ~ 19th May 2011

The Mango Tree had an excellent staff that were very friendly and helpful to someone like me who had no idea where to go and how.The Hostel was only two blocks from Poste 9 on Ipanema beach which was extremely convenient for beach goers and one block over from the main street.It was a five minute walk to the huge Sunday market which is also where the Metro stop is.Security was very good as they had a 24 hr watch and CC video on the premesis.
