I've spent two weekends in The Phoenix and was really happy about the convenient location, the friendly and helpful staff and the rooftop terrace. Always a good spot to take a break and plan the next sight seeing trip. I would certainly go there again. Bettina, from Germany ~ 20th Oct 2009

this hostel has a perfect location on a busy street lots of restaurants mins walk to the metro and v famous peoples park. the staff were very welcoming and friendly with great english. our room was spacious very clean and modern. the restaurant downstairs its very convient and has good food too. not to mention the rooftop bar so friendly and relaxed great to met the other guests overall a fantactic stay. The Phoenix Hostel was perfect for us being a family of 5. Excellent location close to the metro and central Shanghai. Rooftop cafe/bar with free computers and internet eccess was great. I had a wonderful time there, i'd recommend this hostel to anybody who's going to Shanghai. Very helpful staff, clean, fun, wifi's working in the bedrooms too, the lounge is a very nice place too. I actually don't have a single bad thing to say. It's five minutes away by walking from people square even if there's another metro station which is called Da Shijie Zhan that is closer. The Phoenix is as much a hotel as a hostel - You get the services and privacy of a hotel with the community feel and activities of a hostel. The staff was super-helpful for trip planning and general info and most spoke english very well. The location is great - 2 minute walk to the People's Square Metro and lots of restaurants/corner stores nearby. Great price too - Easily one of the best deals in town. Leah, from USA ~ 9th Sep 2009
