We had a pleasent stay at The Strand Hotel. The staff were nice, rooms clean, kitchen not so clean and not big enough around dinnertime, good location. All in all at place we would visit again. Family Pennacchio from Denmark Niki, from Denmark ~ 7th Nov 2009

We stayed in a three bed dorm. The beds were nice but squeeky. The bathrooms were recently rebuilt and very nice, slightly negative that you could not lock the showers, especially in the ladies bathroom which was locked almost all the time. Halls were nice, though with a strong smell of weed most of the time. Not much noise either. I would stay here again, since its great value for money with a nice kitchen and pub downstairs. We stayed over the long weekend in June 2009 - we were in a 3 bed dorm which was fine - clean - the bathrooms were immaculate. The bunks, as always, were very noisy whenever somebody moves in them and the top bunk was scarily close to the air con fan - not the 2 meters the bunk recommends - wouldn't want to sit up at night and forget the fan was one...! The bar / pub downstairs is very nice serving great value food - $10 meals aren't easy to find in Sydney! William, from England ~ 9th Jun 2009

This was a nice and suprisingly quiet place to stay considering it's above a pub! Dorms were spacious and clean enough as were the bathrooms. Very good value for money and not too far to walk into Sydeny. MY only complaint is that there is no luggage storage at the hostel or nearby which is a pain. Room was good, kitchen was small but functional, washing, drying and ironing facilities were good. BBQ roof-top space was nice but no inside area for socialising.
