there were a few suspicious stains on the walls and ddors, but the bed was comfortable and the location was good. the bathrooms were clean too.

I had a really great stay at the widget, had a good chat with one of the guys who worked there, they all seem friendly, yes they do charge you more than they quote but this is the same in any hostel in NY as its just tax, and in all the shops and food places. I asked for a dorm but was given my own room, no bed bugs, clean bathrooms clean room, only bad thing i would say is that there is nowhere to really meet new people, apart from the wifi lobby area. All in all a great stay.

They have just changed their property name from The Widget to the Fresh Hostel. Rooms are really not that clean.. Would not recommend it except for the location.

I have stayed in many hostels and this was one of the better ones. I managed to book the wrong dates accidentally but when I arrived a day earlier than I had booked, the girl behind the counter was extremely nice and helpful. She got us into a room and we even got upgraded to a private bathroom! The room was clean and had a tv. The hostel itself was in a great location, very quiet and right by the park.

The staff was friendly and VERY helpful. Good location, only 2 blocks to the subway - you can take the express trains and be on Times Square after just 2 stops. There is free wireless internet in the lobby, also an ATM. You can get as many towels as you like. Bathrooms are clean. Some rooms can be a little noisy at night, but it's not that bad. It's a good place to stay!

We had a nice week in New York, but didn't spend so much time in the hostel. When we came, there were black long hair in the bedsheets, and the towels were dirty. We are also quite sure a woman with her children LIVED at the hostel...

When we arrived at the hostel, we didn't know if we were at the right place, since it had three different names. We reserved a room at the Widget Hotel, but when we arrived it was called Continental and then later we discovered a sign in the lobby that said Fresh Hostel. This was very confusing... The hostel didn't look anything like the photos, especially not the rooms, it was a lot more shabby. We had a great time in the city but didn't spend much time at the hostel.

One restroom for 10 rooms was no fun, then the shower handle was broken and it couldn't be used. The roaches in the bathroom were scary...
