nice place and location. the bathroom was especially CLEAN for a hostel and the location was perfect to catch the sunset over lake taupo. 7 per room is a bit crowded but the cleanliness made up for it.
HI there - thanks for the great review.... 7 per room can feel a bit crowded in this hot weather....we always try to spread people across our available rooms where possible (we hate cramming people into a few rooms when we don't need to). It is not always possible when the hostel is really busy though....Someone told me just yesterday, "it wouldn't matter if you had bigger rooms/or less beds"........"everyone would just spread their gear out further and it would still feel crowded"......take care....

I only stayed there a night, but I loved this hostel. Really nice big kitchen, massive sitting area with no tv (ie perfect for reading) and a big balcony overlooking Lake Taupo. Add an absolutely magnificent sunset that night I was there and you have the perfect hostel for a relaxing night in. Gina, from USA ~ 10th Mar 2009
