good atmosphere but not functionable, shower had no hot water, internet was down most of my stay, some staff were very nice others were moody, and kitchen was dirty, even saw some rats. all in all I've seen better with better prices. nice balcony! and hamocks

please update the prices on your site, as there was a discrepancy over the amount we owed upon our arrival at Tranquilo. The manager was rude and would not refund the difference of $8.20, which was owed, according to the receipt from your site. I was only refunded 10% of the price *$2.80. The small amount isn't a big deal, however it was extremely frustrating. Thank You.

colorful place, but EXTREMELY loud music ... if you're looking for a place to relax, this is not the hostel to stay at!

Loved the place, stayed two nights and had a really good time!! Highly reccomend, however i had the same problem as others on hostelworld... they didn't have my booking! After a chat with some of the staff i found out that they have been let down by hostelworld people too many times and therefore sometimes don't take hostelworld bookings too seriously so book direct, search on google!! Have said that they honoured my deposit and i had a really good time so enjoy!

it was extremely loud and the only trime the music turned off was from 1am to 6am. the bathrooms were dirty and the staff wasn´t very helpful. I was dissappointed and I got a terrible sleep.

If nearby Pangea is full, and you don't want to splurge (it's worth it!!) for the Hotel Don Carlos around the corner, this hostel is ok for a night. The location is pretty convenient and they seem to have a safe system for their locked storage room. However, we hated the pervasive air of negativity and self-importance at this hostel: think bored shirtless hipsters, smoking cigarettes, lying around in hammocks, and looking somewhat pathetic and despondent. You can do that at home, people! :) The staff also were somewhat incompetent - they didn't have our hostelworld booking but tried to play it off as if they did, leaving us standing there for quite some time while they shuffled through their records. They then attempted to charge us the full price though we'd already paid a deposit, and finally handed us a key to someone else's room...and gave us a bit of attitude when we asked if perhaps they'd given us the wrong key. Overall we got some good laughs out of it...and canceled our next two nights there.
