- “ Best hostel experience! I had a really good time. Everyone was super friendly and the rooms were very clean. The area was near union square and near main areas. Good way to meet other travelers. Overall a fantastic experience!! ”

- “ This was my first time staying in a hostel and traveling alone. I didn't know what to expect especially because everyone was so afraid of the Tenderloin. Thankfully, the Tenderloin was not nearly as scary as everyone made it sound. In fact, I walked alone many nights and was totally fine. My experience at USA Hostels was PERFECT. The rooms were clean, there were free events and booze almost every night and the staff was friendly and helpful. When I return back to SF I would stay there again!! ”

- “ I had higher expectation but my experience wasn't as good. Location, atmosphere, cleanliness and facilities, all are average. Nothing special, and actually it's quite far from the BART station. Be prepared for some slight hill if you'll be walking with heavy luggage. ”

- “ Good location, very clean and friendly staff. They are doing some renovations at the moment (April 2013) but it's not too noisy. No hidden fees, just a 10 Dollar deposit for the key, you"ll get it back at the end of your stay. I would definitely come back and recommend. ”

- “ We really enjoyed our stay at the San Francisco hostel - our room had a fridge and microwave as well as en-suite bathroom, and although there wasn't much natural daylight (the window opened onto a central light well) it was cosy and felt like home for four days. The staff were very friendly and helpful, some going out of their way to help such as when we were a bit late for breakfast one day. Only once did we feel the staff at the desk couldn't be bothered. Would visit again. Thanks guys. ”

- “ This was a great place to stay with friendly staff happy to help you out with anything and a good location, only 5 blocks from Union Square. The atmosphere is great with lots of activities to take part in ranging from tours around the city to weekly yoga and pub crawls. ”

- “ Pros: Location is great - only three blocks from Union Square. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Cons: Wi-fi would disconnect me 1 - 3 times on most of the days that I used it. Breakfast did not start on time most days. ”

- “ On the edge of SF's Tenderloin region, but I never felt unsafe- just don't walk around after dark alone. Locale is absolutely fantastic; only a few blocks from some fantastic sites in the city; never more 1 or 2 miles from anything. Some staff were very helpful while some were rude- hit or miss. Only negatives were that one morning I was counting on the conti breakfast but the kitchen was a disaster from guests who had trashed it the night before. Staff cancelled breakfast. ”
