Universum Hostel Rózsa - Hostel

Hostel Rózsa is the ideal hostel for couples, set in a very good location on the green Buda side of the city. It is also on the 24-hour tramline! It is a quiet hostel with cosy doubles, each with sink and fridge. On the opposite side of the street the...

The hostel had not even opened yet, and the man at the door was not aware that there should have been a hostel. There was a paper saying the nearby Vasarhelyi would take us, and that he could tell us how to get there. He didn't know, nor did he speak any English. Vasarhelyi was fully booked. We were taken to hotel Rila, where the staff was very helpful. Maybe the communication between the hostels and the accuracy of the bookings website need a little work???

We would definately not stay here again! The rooms are old, the showers are disgusting-there are no shower heads or even curtains (underwear and flip flops are a must!) The hostel is also quite far out. Spend slightly more money for a far better hostel!

When I arrived, I was told they wre closing and they shuttled me to another hostel a few blocks way. It had no real personality and there was a robbery there one night. Being woken up by the Hungarian police is one story I can tell for a long time. That alone was worth the price of admission!! Don't let the review scare you off. It was a fine place to bed down for a night or two and I would go again without hesitation.

Strange one - has lift, parking, very good stuff in reception, but rooms and toilets vere awefull: holes in walls, damaged sink, hole in dors, dirty toilets with the worst showers I have ever seen.

The percentage might seem poor, but I also rated this hostel guiding myslef by the smilies (emoticons). And I'm sure I wasn't smiling when I entered here. The rooms were not dirty but looked so (used and scratched furniture and floor, things like that). The bathrooms also didn't look great. It's ok for a few nights (depending also on yout demands) and Budapest is a very pitoresque city. They do have an enclosed parking place, wich can certainly be usefull, but if you're a backpacker you can get a bit better for the money.

Not centrally located, very nice staff but the bathrooms reeked. Maybe a sewage backup or something. For the price the room was pretty nice, two twin beds with an in room sink.

I had to do in the hostel when i arrived the reserve again because they didn´t register my internet reserve. The hostel is very old, the windows don´t close so the security is bad in this way, and the cleanliness is very very bad because i stay one week and only they clean the room when you left the hostel never between you stay there. And is very good the situation because you can go to the city on tramb, on bus and nowdays there are one metro stop in construction very near. Thanks

Its like staying in an abandoned asylum. The showers and bathrooms smell of rotten cabbage and the "kitchen" is a room with empty cupboards, a pile of broken fridges in the corner and a single hot plate that doesnt work. During our stay there was a gas line explosion out front and water leakage coming out of the fuse box. Its one redeeming feature is that every room has a reasonably new fridge in it. It reminded me of the setting for a teen horror flick.
