We were very impressed with Uplands. Very friendly staff...a bit far from the city. Good views, air con in rooms, but no hot water and unpredictable showers. Overall, good value for money.

Pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I only stayed one night so I don't know if it was a useful base for anything.

A quiet hostel off the beaten track & good for Dar Es Salam. It is in University grounds & quite remote. Taxi to & from is required.

A great place to stay but approx 10 KM from the city. A taxi costs approx 10 US dollars or two dalidalis take 90 minutes if you are lucky. Food is good and meeting people is easy and facilitated by staff.
