I was pleased with my stay and would stay there again.

My friend and I stayed in the Vanderbilt YMCA for four nights. Allthough our double bed room was very small it was at least quite clean and had everything we needed. Our Bunkbed was really shaky though... that could be listed as a negative point. Besides that we were very happy with our accomodation. The staff was really friendly!

Customer Service Counter staff were unattentive, uncaring, discourteous, short and curt, unsmiling; they volunteered nothing; I had to ask for Y info; I had to interrupt their personal conversations to get attention. It appeared all they were interested in was processing the body.

Warmer, friendlier lighting than a ceiling florescent fixture would go a long way toward making these admittedly Spartan rooms a bit more warm and fuzzy.

Very nice, the room is small but the rest is perfect.

For about 80 bucks a night, you can't beat it. Sure, it's not Hotel W, and the mattress is thin, the blanket is like a sheet of paper, but you have good A/C, fridge, and TV with Cable. I would stay there again because it is one of the cheapest single rooms you can get in NY. One thing though - it's all the way on the East side. A little bit of a walk to get anywhere - but you're on vacation and should be walking anyway!

The occasional organised trips into Harlem and other places in New York from Vanderbilt ensured visitors have a chance to see any part of New York that may not have originally been on a traveller\'s itinerary.
