- “ Booked a room for two people but was given a single room with a singel twin bed for the first night. We were "upgraded" for the next night to a room with a bunk bed and a sink. The A/C was old and noisy. The beds were uncomfortable, and the showers not clean. Security was top notch on the other hand. The only good thing about his place was the location. ”

- “ It was cheep and location was exellent on East 47th St only 15 minutes walk across to East 47th St 7th Avenue, Times Square. Very nice gym, pool and there were wifi at room. Ladies restroom at 8th floor was very dirty and poor at all times. Painting was falling from the roof in the showerroom. We stayed here for a week. The staff was mostly not friendly and was less serviceminded. You felt like you were bothering them when you asked questions. They had a rude way of talking to eachother. ”

- “ If you aren't a luxury addict, this is definitely a good choice. Great location, nice staff and beds that are just fine for crashing. I'll definitely come back :) ”

- “ This hostel definitely avoid. Scammers! We booked about Hostel.com a room with bunk beds for 2 people for 5 nights, On 08 May 2013, we arrived at 11pm and wanted to check in. The receptionist said to us, that only exist a booking for 1 person. Of course we had the confirmation printed out and we show him the confirmation. On the confirmation you can find clearly 2 guests for 5 Nights, but he don’t accept the printing. They wanted to charge us again $ 465 for second person. After a 30 minute ”

- “ The rooms and facilities were run down, to shabby for a proud price of $100/night for a shared room. The staff is, with a few exceptons, mostly unconcerned and unfriendly. I would recommend to pay a few $ more and stay somewhere else ”

- “ Thanks for offering the service! Definitely improved from a year ago. Good luck with getting the front door repaired. Appreciate your modest recycling initiative. A firmer, fresher pillow would be appreciated. ”

- “ Nice hostel. No internet actually in the rooms - connection is very bad so you see people with their laptops at the reception. Mice came many times through the heating systems and we could hear the sounds - that's NY I guess! ”

- “ The gym was really good! And the room had a own fridge and tv, which was great. Only poor thing was that there isn´t any breakfest included, not even a little. and it was a little bit difficult to find, because at the same street the numbers on the walls are a bit confusing orden. There is one big building with the number 230 between the numbers 210-225. ”

- “ A very convenient place to stay. The location is really an advantage, the staff is welcoming. The bedrooms are however rather small and the mattresses a little old... Anyway, it's a good place, very affordable and practicle. ”

- “ BOOK THIS ONLY, if you just need a bed to sleep for a few hours (being exhausted or totally drunk or both would help) Who wrote all these positive comments?Payed YMCA members? This place was so dirty there are no words. Sticky floor, not even vacuumised. I've slept in shacks in Nepal which had more comfort. In the mornings (we stayed 3 nights) at 8 am the Spanish speaking "housekeepers" would have a party and trigger the competition to be the first at the one toilet and one shower for 30 rooms. ”

- “ I have stayed at the Y previously, and will do so again unless I win millions to afford the sky high prices in the upscale hotels in the City. ”

- “ The hostel location is fantastic. But, really basic rooms and the staff could be a lot friendlier and more helpful. ”

- “ I have not stayed at the Vanderbilt YMCA for a while and was impressed with the renovations to the rooms. This is a deal you cannot beat. Rooms are clean. Security tighter than Fort Knox and superb gym facilities. It would be great to have a private bathroom, but at least the bathrooms are close by and clean. It's a bit of a walk to the theater district (20min) but not bad. They just opened a bread and butter store next door open 24hrs -- great food, coffee, pastry, buffet, etc.... ”

- “ Great Location, I could go walking to grand central terminal, times square, port authority, empire state or even to central park if you don't mind to walk about 30 minutes. Everything was okay during my stay. For sure, I would stay there again. ”

- “ Clean and comfortable, good value. If you've never tried to sleep in Manhattan bring earplugs and unison. The walls are thin. ”
