“ Excellent location. The security was good. They never washed the floor in the bedroom it was nasty and sticky when we came. The bed was noisy and hard. There was no kitchen but a microwave on the main floor. They had no kettle. But then you get what you pay for. Would recommend the hostel. ”

“ Fué nuestra segunda visita al hostel y en ella reafirmé la buena impresión de la primera vez, hace ya 8 años atrás. Ultimamente han cedido al gym espacio que la otra vez mejoraba la mínima permanencia de los pasajeros en el lobby, lo que era importante. Empero, no todo se puede. No es para todos dada las pequeñez de los cuartos, pero nuestro juicio es muy bueno no sólo por la relación de precio/utilidad. Saludos. Jorge y Adriana. Uruguay ”

“ El hostel fue mas de lo que esperábamos, lo usamos básicamente para dormir, y estuvo muy bien. Lo único negativo es que esta un poco alejado de las paradas de subway. Por todo lo demás, you get what you paid for, y todo bien. ”

“ Hostel staff needs to control foreign student groups who consider the hallways as available for group activities. I encountered extremely disrespectful and immature group of students who returned to YMCA at 10:00 pm each night and fixed dinner and popcorn up until 2:00 am with loud gatherings in hallways. They set off the fire alarm with kitchen fire with popcorn maker one night awaking all at 2:00 am. Suggest kitchen be closed at 10:00 pm. No hallway gatherings/ meetings permitted. ”

“ The staff is very cold and unfriendly sheets seemed to be used already, 92 $ for a single room is way to high. Forget the TVs and invest in some better customerservices and cleaning staff. ”

“ The showers and restroom were not very clean! Hairs everywhere and it was dirty! The twin private room we had was very small!! and with two suitcases, we could barely walk in the room! And our room was poorly cleaned too, there was hairs and sand on the floor when we arrived. The positive things about the YMCA were helpfull staff, Gym and swimming pool, good location, TV and fridge in a twin private room, and The YMCA was located in a safe area close to grand central station. ”

“ I paid for a private room they put me in a room opposite to the Men's rest room. Sleeping was difficult with the noise through the night. While I was booking my room, I was told its a shared bath and toilet which I was prepared for but living at the other end was inconvenient. In addition, there are only 2 bathrooms per floor and pretty ill-maintained. In the morning, you have to wait for a while. Wi-fi works only in the lobby and unsecure for which my firewalls didn't allow me to log in. ”

“ Everything was fine except for the mattress on the bed. It was clean but it was far too thin. I might as well have been sleeping on a pillowcase. Other than that the place was fine. Good location, excellent gym facilities. ”

“ For a city like New York the value for money was fine. It is a very big and anonymous hostel you don´t want to spent the day in, and since it has no kitchen and no real common room it is not possible to get in contact with other people. But we had a private double room with fridge that was clean. Unfortunately out of two toilets one didn´t work for most of the time. ”

“ Well, to be honest, the room was small and it's incredible how many things they managed to get in there (desk+chair+bunk beds). Location was excellent, really close to the UN and to many other things! ”
