Having stayed at Chunking mansions before I was actually looking for a more expensive but yet cheap alternative in the same area. I only stayed here for one night before catching my flight home and while the reception is a bit hard to find and located inside a huge and somewhat intimidating maze the people there are very helpful and friendly. Great place and Great location, I did not like the entrance through the arcade. The hostel occupies a few flats within a 20 storage building and it looks great (within the flats) but I can't say the same about the building (mind that it was being refurbished). Staff is there but they do not interact much with clients. No common rooms or a bar for travelers to meet, So you only go there to sleep, good for the money I paid and well equiped. the triple room we have with 2 windows overlooking the harbour view, exactly same as the photo shown. the staffs esp. Jeffrey is very nice and accommodating, helped us a lot with the internet connection & heavy luggages. Perfect location to get to everything you want. the single room is private enough and quiet, the wifi is working good (sometimes is unstable). Apart from that not much to do in the room, better to have more tv english channels. The double occupancy rooms are very good and match the pictures. TVs, Showers, AC all work well. The building is kind of shady but it seems like the hostel rooms themselves are pretty safe. It seemed to us like the owners raised the exchange rate they charged us (from the price in USD on the website into HKD) and apparently cheated us out of 50-60 HKD.
