  • This hostel will meet all your needs provided you are not a high maintenance type. Its not as clean and amazing as previous reviews lead me to believe, but it was fine. The people are indeed quite friendly and lovely. Also some beach related items are available for rent in the office such as snorkel gear.

  • The hostel location is perfect if you want the first hand experience of Waikiki. You can walk to the Waikiki beach, go surfing, hiking, or take a bus to the near attractions. The staff is awesome, I end up hanging out with them more than any staff in any hostel I've been on my travels (and I've been travelling for the past 2 years); they created a good atmosphere, and gave valuable information and suggestions about things to do in Hawaii. Atmosphere was great, you'll meet great people here!

  • I rented a private room. The wifi connection just worked close to the office, but it was not a big problem. Internet speed was very good. Clean place, nice breakfast, good price, two blocks from waikiki beach and some minutes far from cheap restaurants at the kapahulu ave.

  • The place is filthy. My first night there, I woke up to find myself covered in bed bug bites. I counted 40 on my right arm, and about 20 on my left leg. The staff allowed me to switch beds, and my subsequent nights were fine. But it still doesn't make up for all the baby cockroaches I saw over my 6 nights there. Who knows how many have crawled over my face while I was sleeping!! Good parts: each dorm has its own fancy fridge, a microwave, and a kitchen sink. Plus free beer night on Thursday.

  • I had a fun time because of the people I met, but the hostel had poor organization with their management.

  • Good hostel all-around. People were friendly and decent folks. (There was a little bit of a noise problem - people talking too late into the night) I wouldn't say the hostel is outstanding, but it's definitely not bad. There is a kitchenette in each room and the rooms are cleaned daily. It's a 5-minute walk to the beach. There's free internet and breakfast. The staff did mess up my booking at first and I had to switch rooms a few times, which was annoying. Other than that, good!

  • It was a pleasant stay. I had very friendly and respectful roommates who kept the noise down if he/they came home late at night.

  • The Backpackers Hostel is a just what you pay, basically a place to sleep and wind down and that's about it. No cable tv. The units all have a very small kitchen area, fridge/freezer, basic bathroom (no soap or shampoo while I was there) and storage closest. People from all over the world. The continental breakfast was actually nice w/toast and yogurt. The parking became a pain one night, it's very tight. RIGHT next to the beach so the walk is short and easy which was great with no car.

  • The bathroom in our room was broken for 3 days and we were told to use the shower in the office where the water preassure was so low we could not wash the soap out of our hair. we were also told not to use the toilet and with 6 people it was a nightmare! We ended up leaving a day early because we just couldn't take life without a bathroom. Especially because the office is locked at night and was on the other end of the hostel. The top floor has no space to just relax.

  • Pros: Great location, Great staff, all very friendly.. the cleaning lady, who's name slips my mind, was extremely helpful and good company, Clean and Valuable, Cons: Internet definitely needs attention, Security was ok, but would be great if there was lockable storage, Would be good if the hostel organised more functions for the guest,, ie tours, pub crawls etc, (every night)

  • Great place. Every member of the staff provided me with great service and they were very friendly and nice. Everything was clean. Yenna, Jessie, Louis and the german guy were great at all the times! My only suggestion will be to add some lockers so guests can have the option of keeping value items safe.

  • The staff was very helpful and it seemed there was almost always someone up at the front desk, which was great. The location couldn't be better as it was only a block or so away from the beach. Overall, a great place with a very cool atmosphere for younger travelers. Only thing might want to note is there was no airport shuttle service.

  • Good location - close to Beachfront, shops/restaurants in Waikiki area, and bus stops for the tourist hop-on-hop-off buses. Check-in isn't until 3pm and staff don't seem to know who's booked to stay there until about 2:45pm. Whilst the staff were friendly & helpful, the check-in system seems to be incredibly inefficient - it's very long and drawn out, so don't be in a hurry! If you like hanging out with drinkers & smokers and don't need privacy/space to yourself, then it's a good place to stay.

  • The hostel is great. Rooms are converted studio apartments with their own bathroom and kitchenette. Free beer and pizza/bbq nights. Free breakfast is toast, butter, jam, coffee, tea, and yogurt. The staff is very nice and helpful. There are no lockers available but valuables can be locked up in the staff room. There is free interenet access, although the connection can be spotty sometimes. No free shuttle to/from airport, but the more people taking the shuttle with you, the less you have to pay.

  • What a great hostel, I stayed here for a total of 6 nights and it is a place I will return to if I ever go back. The rooms are very nice they have hardwood floors, Stainless Steel Appliances, and Granite Counter Tops. This in my opinion is a very nice finishing touch to each of the rooms. The rooms are also equipped with AC. From the research that I did this hostel has the perfect balance of party and quiet time. The staff here is very nice and helpful, *Organized Events a plus in my book!
