- “ The West Side Y is an affordable, spartan place to stay. Generally clean, situated near Central Park and the subway. Reasonable restaurants are nearby. If you need a place to sleep it's OK. You don't stay there to eat, drink or admire the room or relish the view, but as a base from which to explore New York City, it's good value. Staff are friendly and helpful. ”

- “ Small but clean rooms, and bad bad bathrooms. Very good location near everything in NYC. I would recommend it if there were better facilities. ”

- “ Floor 13 of YMCA west side is different from the other floors. Floor 13 has toilets for a single person (not private in the room, but once you get in your'e alone there). Other floors you have to share a dirty shower with others. Price is a little bit high compared to what you get. General feeling again in floor 13 is better, other floors a little bit like a jail. In general an average place, not very bad and not excellent. Again the floor makes the difference. ”

- “ My camera and cash were stolen from my locked locker in the gym. Whey I tried to check in the YMCA didn't acknowledge my confirmed booking with Hostels.com The advertised on-site restaurant was always closed. Many of the electronic locks inside the toilets are broken, so people walk in on you! This could be a great place to stay if only more attention were paid to maintenance and security. I've stayed here many times over the years but am questioning whether I will choose this venue again. ”

- “ Location, location, location. Great old building, but the rooms need some work. Its the Y and you get access to amenities, so it beats out most hostels to begin with. Add that to it being right opposite a west side entrance to central park, right by Columbus circle and you have a winner.If you are just in to shower and sleep, this place is great. Its New York after all! Who wants to stay in? ”

- “ This was our first trip to NY and we were on a very tight budget. The hostel was very clean, safe, and had a very friendly staff. Bernadette was very accomodating and helpful and found a way for my daughter and I to room together. It looks like I will have to be visting NY a couple more times this year, and I would not think about staying anywhere else. Thank you much- Laura Wisser ”

- “ bonne situation accueil pas très sympathique chambre minuscule mais très propre, draps serviettes impeccables, lit horriblement mou ! bien trop cher pour la prestation (72 dollars la nuit !),pas de salle de bain, pas de wifi dans les chambres étant sur place, j'ai pu voir des hotels au même pris et avec une chambre + salle de bain dans Manhattan même !!! + good situation + not to good welcome + cleanliness = OK too too expensive for these services !! I don't recommend this hoste ”

- “ the bathroom has a bad smell. if your room stand in front of a bathroom, you will not have peace, because every moment hear the sound of the door opening and closing. and worst of all stole my phone, warned the head of hotel security, he said was very rude and would only register the complaint and could not do ANYTHING. The only good thing is location, but surely, and searching, is the next best quality, good price and without risk of being stolen in the hostel. ”

- “ Room cleanliness was allright. But the bathroom were really disgusting, of all hostels I have ever been, this was the one with the worst bathrooms (toilets malfunctioning, bad smell, disgusting brown paper, dirty showers without door and hangers,...) I was on the tenth floor. ”
