It was a little out of the way, but nice to be in a quiet area. Room was large and clean. Staff has limited English. Easy to get taxis to anywhere and cheap, but you have to have addresses written in Chinese.

This is more like a 1-star hotel. Other hostels in Xi'an have much better locations (this is 1-hour walk from the Bell Tower which isn't recommended in Xi'an's smog!). When taking taxis none of the drivers knew where the road was (we had to direct them!). Also, the showers smell like rotten eggs, staff didn't know what the tour they booked for us entailed and we were charged 50Yuan to use a room for 1 hour on our last day, which didn't even have a shower head. Apart from that I would recommend it!

Staff were not aware that their hostel was listed on Hostelworld, would not acknowledge our 10% online deposit. Staff spoke poor English. The location is far away from major sites and points of interest. Flee!

Shower water felt and smelled like sewage - not fun to take a shower and feel less clean afterwards. Staff asked for more money for the "lost" booking

You should write, that first hour for Internet is free of charge. We had to pay for the water in our room 10 Juan - the price was to high and there wasn't any sign, that water isn't free. Location - only average, because of the distance from main railway station and north gate of the Old Town. In GREAT PLUS is climat of the neighbours small streets with a delicious food you can eat stright from the wok.

Great place. Very helpful staff. Need to get airfare to Hong Kong and they found my wife and I a resonable ticket price so we could stay an extra day.
We were in the Flats of Renmin hotel, part of the same complex so these comments relate to that part only. Kane's cafe is ok and Ghengis Kane, the proprietor, is very friendly - he will book trips cheaper than the hotel staff and there is usually room for a little bit of negotiation. However for basic tickets, i.e. train or public bus, you are still much cheaper to go get them yourself at the station.
