Shuyuan is Xi'an's original backpackers' hostel, and though often imitated, is never duplicated. We are perfectly located in the heart of the flourishing cultural and shopping district. The hostel itself is a rare, preserved traditional Chinese courtyard ...

Good location as just by the city gate. Lots of useful info displayed on the boards in the hostel. We did the tour to Terrocotta warriors with the hostel and was terrible, My friend knew more about the hostory than the guide and even though we had checked there would be no shopping stops before we booked, the guide still made us waste an hour at a silk shop.

Probably the best hostel you'll find in China. Great rooms, lots to do there, and everyone is very helpful and friendly. You should definately stay here if you go to Xi'an. The restaurant is good and cheap.

The girls at the desk are always friendly, even if they are often very busy. The best receptionists we've met during our trip in China

This place has a great bar and pretty tasty food! Good location, easy walking distance to the Bell & Drum Towers and staff that are happy to help with booking trains/flights etc

The facilities are excelent. You get everything you need. the staff is making their bet to satisfy every of your wishes and is very helpful. Jiajia made a great effort to get the information how to come to Xiahe and involve also her friends to help us.That was a great help and would like to thank her very much.

This character BLEEDS character - one of the best I've seen. Easy to meet people, lots of hostel activities, very nice. Downsides: despite how wonderful the reception girls were, they were ALWAYS overrun by people and it took forever to get a simple question answered. The 40 RMB service fee is a bit much for train tickets (cost more than the ticket). The housekeepers make LOTS of noise EARLY in the morning... not the best for sleeping off those hangovers. Otherwise, one of my favorite places.
