Cheap, good location, bit cheerless, but never mind! Price and location make up for that.

this place is a budget hotel instead of a dorm. not too bad if u hv to catch a train or a plane the next day as this place is just beside the train station and nearby is a shuttle bus to the airport !

Big hotel, very close to trainstation and airport express bus (!!). Perfect for arriving/leaving Guangzhou. Staff speak enough English for check-in/out. Area around station, so little fun in this area. Contact them by v8hotel@yahoo.com.cn or phone 86-20-288 30 555 (different from info you receive after booking!!). See www.v8hotel.com for more info. Hostelworld has better rates than V8-membership!

I booked the hotel online and I had been pay the reservation fee 10% advanced but when I reached to the hotel, the staff told me that they have not received any reservation fee and told me that this payment was direct to hostel world. I am very confused for this payment procedure and they charged me walked in price .

We presented the confirmation email from hostelworld.com to check in, but it took more than normal time to process. When we were told to have a look at the room before moving in, there were no one there opening the door for us or guide us.

When we arrived they had no clue about our booking. Their English was bad so we had trouble sorting it out. They tried to charge us more than what we had thought we should be paying from the website, but we got our own way in the end! Then our key didn't work I had to go down to reception three times before someone let us into our room. The room smelt bad was really noisy and not that clean. I just wanted to leave. I went out, and then when I came back had the same issues with the key and had to go down to reception a further three times for them to unlock the door because of course it was a different shift of staff on! This place is an absolute disgrace and if I was hostel world i would take it off the website!!!

Ideel close to (main) train station - and Metro to East Train station. A lot of police officers meets regular at 8. floor. Room very basic - and no heating (Guangzhou is cold in Winter)

Guangzhou is dirty. Period. Don't expect the Hilton. But the staff was helpful and nice. I bought a bicycle and they gave me a place to put it. Insist on getting receipts so that you can show what you've paid for and I can't see why you'd have any problems. There are ethnically diverse neighborhoods close by where you can find different kinds of food. Very nice!

WATCH OUT FOR CRIMINAL ACTIONS BY STAFF MEMBERS!!! THEY WANT YOUR MONEY!! For this hotel me made on online reservation. We had to pay 75 us dollars. Online 10 dollars (creditcard) and by arrivel 65. So far, so good. Last night of our stay at the hotel, at twelve o'clock, the office called us that we had to be checked out that day. We had to pay money and the office would sent an staff member to pick up the money. But this was was wrong: we paid for three nights, not two. We had evencidence of this reservation on our laptop computer. But the chinese staff member on our room didn't speak a word englisch so we went down to de office. At the office the head of staff told us that the amout of 65 us dollars we paid was deposit en gave it back to us. But we refused it. The staff member told us that we had to pay 400 yuan right now! That was absolutely false. When we made our reservation we paid 10 dollars by creditcard and by arrival 65 like we did. And by our arrivel the office member then said that is was O.K.. So whats the problem? See here our reservation on our computer? But the office member did not understand that information. She said that for our problem we had to contact hostelworld.com. De office member insisted that we where wrong. We had to pay. But we refused. Than de office mebmer went angry: she had never met such bad guests. So what! When we walked away she treatened tot call the police! So what! A bad night followed. Next morning (the time we had to check out) an other office member helped us very correctly. Everything was fine en very friendly she thanked us for our stay. 100% certain: they tried to steal money from us!! So again, watch out the staff members of this hotel!!!
