Really good location, opposite the Arts centre and really close to the centre. Area is very pleasant and hostel has a homely feel. Not the liveliest of places but the stay was enjoyable.

Would really recommend this place only if you are walking around CHCH... it is on the main art drag - across from the Art Centre and kitty corner from the Gardens. The bathroom and room upstairs were not very clean or bright or well designed... to be expected, perhaps, in an older house?
Really nice hostel in posh part of Christchurch, right by tram. Hostel was a lovely old fashioned building with a sweeping staircase. Bedrooms and kitchen usual excellent YHA standard, big n practical! Would stay here again
Cleaner left dirty sheets in our room which made it smell aweful - reception staff were absolutely fantastic - located on edge of city

Great facilities...but why were there so many people over the age of 50? I sort of thought hostels were for YOUTH. So this place wasn't fun at all. Also, none of the sinks have plugs (which sucks if you have to put on contacts, like I do), and the faucets in the kitchen spray terribly.
very good location - a lot of culture. the rooms and doors should be renovated (the doors cannot be closed without noise). showers should also be on the first floor! great that they have their own parking space!
