The YHA Wellington city was a great hostel for me. I appreciated that the staff member were considerate to my needs. I ended up feeling like i never really left home. The location i loved the best, just around the corner, literally for the bars, cafes and clubs. Te papa one block away and a grocery store right across the road. Liked it alot, but maybe i might not come when its school holidays. the children were too much for me. kind regards jimmy tengu

how about bunk beds are not attached to each other - maybe connected to the wall so beds dont wobble when other person rolls over

Amazing! Just amazing! 5 star hostel....stay here....I am a NZer and I was here for 4 nights whilst on business...I wanted to stay here because I'd heard good things. My workmates stayed at a fancy hotel, but YHA Wellington was so much better. Stay here!

thoroughly enjoyed our stay and staff were very efficient and friendly. We enjoyed the delivered meals at night as we returned to the hostel pretty tired and it was great to have excellent meals at such a good cheap price.

Another good effort from YHA. Handy location, plenty of things to do and good service. My only grumble is the lack of security lockers, but this seems to be a feature of all NZ YHA hostels (at least the ones I've been in so far).
Wellington YHA was the nicest hostel out of all the other YHA hostels (which was quite a bit) by far. The staff was amazing. One guy in particular who helped us plan our whole trip basically. Just wonderful!Beautiful building, easy access to the grocery store and attractions nearby. The only thing that is kind of a shame is that there is no bus stop close to the YHA. It's a long walk for backpacker and to get to the bus stop is a little confusing to and from the train station. Other than that, w
Helpful staff. Laundry area with television with great views. Would return. Better than average.

great hostel, very clean with lots of areas to eat in, chat in or veg out in. staff are fantastic always helpful.
Large hostel -- two kitchens. One was a bit cramped, but still ok. Some fun, attractive couches for sitting on and things like a game room and video room.

I stayed at several hostels on this vacation. Most of the others had a TV in the room. I would have preferred to have one here as well.
