This is the worst hoatel i've ever stayed in. The location and accomodations were decent however the staff made it hell. The manager mr. Thomas was very accomodating to me, and even came to the bus stop to pick us up. However when i told him that i had a few friends that i madr on the bus ride things started to go downhill. He ended up charging them 35rmb per person for the same room as me. i paid 18rmb. He also aggressively tried to sell us a 100rmb raft ride up the li river. Apparently it was Leo, from Canada ~ 10th May 2009

the staffs there were too aggressive to sell their tour packages, especially the boss. if you don't know about the standard price for the activities, sure they will markup quite a lot. do your homework before taking their offer. the rooms is a bit old, definately not a new building, but the location is fantastic, just opposite the west street. First of all this is not new hostel (first lie). Few months ago it was called Youth Hostel, but the owner changed the name. It was the worst hostel I stayed in China (and I have been travelling around China about 2 months). This is why: There was mould in the rooms, no air conditioners (only very loud fan) and even we could not open the window so night was terrible. I also saw huge cockroach in our room. This was an excellent hostel. I stayed here with my parents and aunt and uncle when they visited me. We all loved the place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They helped arranged cheap tours, cooked us supper, and made us feel very welcome. The hostel is in a great location, just across the street from West Street but far enough away from the loud bars and vendors. It is a very unique building, built into the side of the mountain.
