this was the same as most HI hostels. nothing super special but clean, secure and a good location. the breakfasts are good and the evening meals are good value. the lockers, while outside the rooms, seems secure and bathrooms are clean enough. the only thing is proper hot water seems a rareity. the staff were really great and helpfull when asking for ideas on day trips. good value place.

took me FOREVER to find this place because the directions that the provide on hostelworld are crap. make sure you go to the tourist office in bern and ask how to get here. this place should not be labelled as a youth hostel. total false advertising as most of the people here were 40+ years. if you are a college student looking to meet people, this is not the hostel to do it at (plus IMO bern was a really boring town anyway)

Really cool hostel easy to findwith the signs. Great outside terrace and a camp fire! You could take a beer at night with the guy at the reception. For the price, you get a good ambiance and a good breakfast!

The free breakfast was not awful, but they charge 6 swiss franks for not being an international hostel member! ridiculous and stupid

The hostel was a bit hard to find when arriving at night, but was actually in a great location. Definitely a walk down the hill though! Lots of school groups, etc. since we were there right at the end of their school year, but we still managed to meet some cool people and have a good time. The free breakfast was nothing to rave about, but still free!

Basic, clean hostel, most YHA hostels are the same. Lockers in hallway which was weird, but worked fine. Good breakfast included, good lunches & dinners at an additional price. Right on the river, 10 min from train station and close to shopping/touristy stuff. Take note of reception hours-closed 10:30 til 2pm.
