This is a great value for money backpackers situated just behind the George Hotel. They run amazing cultural tours which you must take part in (although they are rather expensive) I booked to stay in the 25 bed dorm but when I arrived there didnt seem to be any dorms and I was issued with a 2 bed Challet which I was delighted with for the same price. Great pool and close to town but theres not much to do unless your away on a tour. If your quick and are visiting in the next few months you might be lucky enough to be served at the bar by Bianca, voted the best barmaid in Zululand by...me!

Really enjoyed my stay here, but if you don't visit when a zulu ceremony is on to visit (Wed or weekends) there is not a great deal to do! The showers were not covered so was fun when it rained and there wasnt much hot water but the rooms were spotless- had a great night sleep!

Eshowe is in the middle of no where with not much to do, esp if it is bad weather. Tours are over priced compared to similar hostels and the set up makes it awkard to attend traditional events as toursits. There were not many options for food, just a nice and expensive resturant or cooking on our own, but there are no resturants in town. Its really off the beaten path and probably not worth your time to go to Eshowe.
