Room is much better than I thought! Clean, good heater, separate shower room and toilet. Staff are nice and friendly, explaining everything clearly. I booked a private twin room but get a four bed ensuite instead. But the room is big, clean and nice, I don't really complain about this change even this is not reasonable... For the price we paid per person per room (basically the price of a 2/3 star hotel for what is a basic hoStel) we expected a little more. No complimentary breakfast, no fresh towels, early check-out and very late check-in... Think there's room for improvement. Gaelle, from France ~ 31st Aug 2011

Everything is highly electrical. Not suitable for keeping Shabbat. Location is very near to, but downhill from, High St. (Just to consider every morning). Have a baggage room which was very helpful. Kitchen was kinda clean. Raquel, from Israel ~ 23rd Jul 2011

Almost like a hotel. It was very loud in our room all night, so if you're looking for a good night's rest, I'd look elsewhere. Otherwise, the staff was nice and it was clean. Great location! Grace, from USA ~ 28th May 2011

Although we booked a private room, we still wound up in a dorm, though it was just us. Apparently the hostel only has 3 double bed rooms, and after they are filled any 'private' bookings are simply placed in a dorm. The staff did sort this out for us very quickly when we complained though. Also - heating seems to be non-existent - which is kind of weird in Scotland!! James, from England ~ 17th Mar 2011
