I stayed for 4 nights and had a perfect stay.The staff was friendly, courteous, and very helpful.The location is central Gion and is quite easy to find and navigate throughout the city from there.I highly recommend A-Yado Gion. Read Owner Comments Terrance, from USA ~ 21st May 2012

This hostel is very well located if you want to hang out in the evenings (the buses in Kyoto stop around 22:00, so if you want to hit some bars, you'll probably want to stay near Gion) but a bit far from the train station (about 20-30min bus) , which makes it a bit less easy to explore the city. A-Yoda was very clean and the staff was super friendly. They let me borrow an iPhone charger for two days since I left mine back in Tokyo. I really liked that they had snacks and drinks for purchase in the common room. It made meeting other backpackers over a cheap beer very easy. My only complaint was my snoring coughing overweight French bunk-mate who slept in his underwear. What can you do, though? I love this hostel. It was in a great section of town. We were able to walk to multiple temples (and shopping) easily. The staff is wonderful. They're very friendly and helpful. If you need to know how to get anywhere they're always ready with a map and directions. They also take their cleaning very seriously. This was the cleanest hostel I've ever been in.
