They have a nice roof top area where you can enjoy having free breakfast (The owner's homemade banana jam was good! I asked him for the receipe!"), writing your diary, chatting, and their happy hour free beer. :-) They always keep their propaty clean so it was comfortable to be there. It was near to many things. Really really nice staff, who are very nice and helpful. It's a good location, the beds are comfy, the showers are really nice and have proper hot water. I, and many other travelers kept coming back between our trips to sapa and halong bay. Free beer during happy hour and nice free breakfast. Also met a lot of really cool people there. Great stayS, actually stayed there twice during my Vietnam trip. Excellent staff, organised great value trips to Sapa and Halong Bay. Could leave bags there safe, use shower and stuff even when I'd checked out. Very personalised experience with manager - very friendly but not pushy or over the top. Genuinely nice people, would often willingly show me the cheapest way of doing things even if it meant them losing out on money. Good map provided, breakfast and beer on rooftop an added bonus. Fab! The rooms were really great with comfy beds, big lockers, and clean bathrooms.The staff was also very helpful and worked out a very late night airport pickup for me so I wouldn't have to worry about dealing with rigged taxi meters or other scams.The only thing I wish it had was a larger/more open common area. Fantastic staff and very good quality and value for money dorms. A bit north of the "main action", but still an easy walk down to the lake and a good assortment of food options. Booked my 3 day/2 night Halong Bay trip from here and it was AMAZING! And again, the staff are total sweethearts that are always willing to help and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The staff here were extremely helpful and friendly. There were beers every evening in the common area, which gave travellers a great opportunity to talk with each other in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, before getting great advice on where to go to eat. I had a wonderful time staying at Hanoi Hostel. It's in a nice location in the Old Quarter, making it easy to walk to plenty of attractions. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I came downstairs one morning well after breakfast time had ended, and they kindly offered me breakfast anyway! The free breakfast and free tea and coffee all day were great bonuses.
