I liked this hostel very much. The people were varied and friendly. I would just note that it does tend to get noisy late at night and hot water in the showers was almost nonexistent.

The hostel is a rather "alternative" place with loads of easy going people and the location is just great, but: there was a strange smell in all of the house (my bag and everything still smells like that) and the rooms are quite cold as a big sign tells you to keep the windows open as much as possible. Hi Katharina, hay thanks for the comments,we always value our guests feedback.We just wanted to let you know that we do infact have female dorms,you book a 16 bed mixed dorm...our cheapest dorm,we did upgrade you to an eight person room for your stay.

ive stayed in so many hostels.and you lot are the best by far far.very clean and don't charge for every last thing,,or have millions of rules.you're great.theres only 1 bad thing,,thats the long termers and staff are unfriendly and rude.hey,thats ok.you are still the best

It was more than average at all. There was only few irrition: silence after 11:00 pm wasn`t consequently realised, my booking in a not mixed room turned out to be .... - I could arrange with.

Enjoyed my time at HSH. Lots of opportunities to make friends, location, lockers in rooms, and the kitchen were big positives for me. Could definitely be a bit cleaner, but nothing that would keep me from staying there again. The free pub crawl on Thursdays is a blast, and if you don't mind doing a few hours of work in the hostel during the day you might get a free night's stay out of it!

AMAZING!. great location. staff very helpful and cool. It was lots of fun with a huge common room. security was good, lockers in each room and a giant safe at the front if you have something that needs extra safe keeping, no curfew, huge kitchen with everything. pretty clean and the character was awesome. old building. And edinburgh is amazing as well. I woudl definately recommend and Stay at this hostel again. cant wait to go back.
