Hostel des Bernardins in , Francie

It's really a bad service for what it could be. The double rooms are rooms with two awful (the mattresses are extremely soft) separated beds. The shower is kind of filthy and the toiled is outside the room and only one per floor... The only good point of it is really the location. If you're NOT planning a romantic weekend in Paris, then go for it :) If you're looking for a bit of comfort, stay away! Ricardo, from Portugal ~ 17th Sep 2012

Dirty rooms, smelly toilets, showers with no shower curtains, narrow & dark corridors, no lift... and nothing to make up for it apart from the location. Really, if it wasn't Rue des Bernardins... Oh, and you have to pay extra to use wifi. And even then it only works in the lobby. It's just not worth it. Not for 33 euros a night. Weronika, from Poland ~ 8th Jul 2012

Stayed at room with two beds. Each room has one shower, only one toilet per hallway (shared by maybe 5-6 rooms). Surprisingly that wasn't a problem, and it was always clean. Staff was very nice and helpful, location is great (near metro, near notre dame, near bars and restaurants). Rooms are very simple but nice. Mine had a balcony and overlooked the street on a fifth floor. No elevator though, so try not to forget anything upstairs...breakfast is simple but does the job. Def recommend. Shower doesn't have a curtain awkward with 9 other guys. No elevator makes luggage difficult, but that's normal. Price is about normal (30 Euros/ngt). Sheets are provided, and are clean, but you have to pay for internet (2E/2hr), and even more if you don't have a wireless device (6E/hr), which is rough. stephen, from USA ~ 3rd Jul 2012

the check in wasn't until 2:30 although check out time was 9 am...the room i stayed in was a twin private and we each had to pay 38 euro per night...the room very closely resembled a jail cell...the shower and beds might easily be better in a jail than they are at this hostel.there is no curtain or anything over the shower so don't expect privacy.the walls were also paper thin so if you decide to stay here make sure you don't get stuck by the stair well as you will be woken up all night. matthew, from Tuvalu ~ 25th Jun 2012

this hostel will cancel your reservation if you show up late. they leave no time for you to get lost and automatically switch your hostel. the staff was very rude and did not relate to us. We had a very hard time finding the hostel and so when we got there late, we had to try to find the second hostel. it is very rude to cancel someones reservations and book them somewhere else-especially since we already paid.
