there was only one staff person checking in guests during the very busy evening hours. every guest seemed to have a problem during check-in. the check-in process was complicated, especially with having to provide additional information on each member of our party, including our passport information. we have never had this experience before or since. however we were surprisingly pleased with our accommodations. Location is great. Bathrooms are not really clean & there is no soap. You have to pay 1 euro for renting a towel. Internet connection is not really good but it's free everywhere in the hostel. Anna, from Russia ~ 30th Nov 2012

I have never felt so unwelcome in my life, when Hostels are concerned. I had booked a dorm room through Hostels.com but when I was checking in they told me I was too old (38) for the dorm and the only possibility left was a private room (more than 50 euros per night!). The ladies behind the counter were sweet about it (they were really nice) but the experience is unwelcoming to a high extend. Please make these rules known on the booking site!!! I stayed during Oktoberfest which meant that the price was exceptionally high for a hostel.The bathroom was located in another dorm and the showers only have a curtain which doesn't quite promote privacy, it also smelled in the bathroom possibly due to lack of ventilation.The bar was good and cheap though.Internet was lacking in speed but again probably due to oktoberfest.I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't stay here again. Stayed in a private single room with ensuite. Modern and clean interior giving an impression of a budget boutique hotel. Air-conditioning excellent. The lobby is like any other modern hostel - noisy with late-teens/twenty-something, full of drunk youths in the evening - but once you get into your private room it feels like a hotel. Free WiFi but reception is only strong in the lobby. Major renovation when I stayed so no lift, and I had to walk 5 storeys to my room. Not cheap. Isaac, from Australia ~ 7th Jul 2012
