Manila Bay Hostel in Manila, Philippines

This hostel is in the form of a flat within a larger building, that has been converted to a large dorm (12 beds) and 4 double bedrooms. THERE IS NO SOCIAL AREA! This is not a place to come and meet people, chill out and relax and the Wifi didn't work. If you are only looking for a bed to sleep in and don't plan on being here at all then it's good value i suppose, it's the cheapest I could find.oh, no glass in the window and it fronts a busy road. so mosquitoes + noise. hmm. nice staff+security Matthew, from England ~ 29th Dec 2012

Can't fault its location especially if you're just there in transit. It's near to the airport and bus terminal, walking distance to Intramuros and nearby the SM Mall of Asia. Lift going up has a musty smell, the hostel common area is really warm although one wouldn't hang there long. Private room we were in had a noisy aircon.Walls are thin and traffic will be blaring as it faces the main road. Shouldn't be a problem if you sleep like a log. The staff is very kind and friendly. He advices that we should do if we will go to somewhere. We can ask anything to him. Location is very good, near Rizal Park and Manila Bay and the center of city, but the around of this hostel is not really good, little scary about the people in the environments, there's so many homeless people. Overall, a decent, safe hostel in Manila. Downsides: 1) If I had to do it over again, I'd pick somewhere in Makati because there's more to do there, and cab rides, while cheap, can be awfully long. 2) The mattress was plastic, and with no fitted sheet, it got pretty uncomfortable. 3) The lack of wifi was inconvenient. Perks: 1) It's cheap. 2) It's in a historic area of Manila, if you're into that sort of thing. 3) Seems to have pretty good security. Jillian, from USA ~ 1st Oct 2012
