Port Campbell Hostel in Pisa, Australia

The hostel was nice, and the staff was very friendly, but Port Campbell was/is? like an old black-and-white two-horse town. You know, one of those places where the shutters slam shut as you walk down the street.

... we're taking the comment about us being like one of those old B&W, 2-horse towns as a compliment! (In fact, we're working on getting tumbleweed to blow through the main street, as we speak)

Clean, Big Kitchen

Hey there guest who's stayed! Thanks for your comment. Simple... to the point. We like it. (Very proud of our kitchen. Sixteen cook tops, two ovens, four sinks, four dish racks, 100s of items of 'kitchen stuff', two huge glass fronted 'fridges, the obligatory microwave oven, perpetual boiling water, FREE tea, coffee and sugar. And - sometimes - some extreme culinary delights left over from previous guests who made more food than they were able to handle! Cheers, Tony - Hostel Manager

This is a pretty slick hostel operation. A big kitchen (at last!), plenty of showers and loos and its all CLEAN. Plenty of parking too. There is a nice common area, and DVDs behind reception. You have to pay for internet, but it wasn't as much of a rip-off as in other places. Staff were friendly and helpful too.

Very spacious room, comfy king size bed in double room, nice showers and powder room. No wifi, no breakfast !

G'day AT, great review, but I need to clear up a couple of aspects. Firstly, with respect to "no WiFi"... we've got both desktop and wifi access in the hostel, and have had that since we opened back in 2009. (And altho' there is a per-person charge for wifi access, the feedback I'm getting is that our rates are very, very competitive compared to what some other rural hostels charge for wifi, around Australia). And with respect to your comment (complete with an exclamation mark!) about 'no breakfast'... I'd gladly provide everybody in the hostel with a 'free' breakfast if my customers would be prepared to pay an additional $3.00 or $4.00 per person for that experience. (And, believe me, almost all of my guests would not want to pay that!). Remember, "there's no such thing as a free lunch" (or, in this case, a free breakfast). Also, I have NEVER advertised anywhere that we offer a 'free breakfast'... simply 'cause we don't, & I don't want to raise my guest's expectations that I'll provide a breakfast at the hostel. But, to reiterate your point, you are correct: we do NOT provide a breakfast. (However, we do provide an exceptionally well appointed kitchen where the canny traveller can prepare their breakfast... should they arrive prepared to do that!).
