It was an unfortunate choice.The morning we arrived there were drunken people everywhere, the neighbourhood and the rooms smelled (There's a cat) .The girls at the reception were not very helpful when asked about clubs to go or money exchange parlours didn't not provide useful information. After paying for a four day stay I was robbed at knife point on the street Mgr had recommended I take. Make what you want of that and as I did not utilise the room which was later relet the Rio Hostel refused to refund any money declaring my Insurance would cover it.Insurance doesnt cover accommodation loss. I left RIO with 100R, just enough for a taxi to the Police Station and then onto the Airport. The Hostel is in local theft area and lacks in honesty and integrity. Most things bout this hostel were good except rm 7 cannot open windows and no curtains. The lights left on all night were like a spotlight and I didn't sleep well at all. Built on a steep hill the noise does echo from the bar area at night Linda, from Australia ~ 15th Nov 2010
