Breakfast area is not smoke-free. In fact, the young man in the servery was smoking behind the counter. Also, staff smoke in the stairwell.I suppose this is Malaysia, but I think the Singgahsana Lodge claims to be smoke-free. Though this is not what was implied by "atmosphere", it is a question of air quality. Charles, from Australia ~ 9th Dec 2012

Great place to stay, welcoming and helpful staff despite problems will hostels.com booking. We are two aged back packers from the UK and we felt really comfortable in this hostel - much more character than much more expensive hotels up the road.
