There was one staff person who really ruined the rating for everyone here. She was really ignorant and rude. Didnt take the time to remember her name, but i was NOT impressed.

I would recommend this hostel to anyone, Its was in a perfect location 1 block from the beach,And Ipanema is much nicer than Copacabana, we stayed 10 days in Copacabana in other hostels and after tourung Brazil we stayed at Mango Tree for 4 days before we flew out, and we wished we'd always stayed at mango tree,not Copacabana.Its cleaner,safer,better bars and clubs and a nicer beach.
its was VERY clean,and very trendy.
Great showers,cable TV withabout 300 channels alot in english. beautiful pa

We had an awesome time at the Mango Tree. The location was superb, the staff were super friendly, the premise was kept inpeccably clean, the tours were professional and the people we met were fantastic! There are supermarkets down the street, restaurants around the corner and the beach 1 block away, in a safe environment. IT WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP! Thanks for the memories

The staff were not that friendly, especially the Australian guy who i think managers it. He was even sometimes down right rude. If he doesnt like his job he should quit and not take it out on us. And the bar really cant be called a bar. I´m not a party person but this place lacked any fun.

An excellent choice. In summary, the hostel has a perfect location, affable Brazilian staff (the Brazilian guys are VERY nice and so hot!), nice cool rooms at night, an ornate feel, peace and quiet, helpful owners (Australian/UK couple). Best hostel I've stayed at in a while throughout the world.

This is a quiet hostel with an absolutely fantastic location (about 50 metres from ipanema beach). Great for a good nights sleep, a bloody good shower (hot water and lots of water pressure!) and has a brilliant free breakfast. Not a party hostel, but there are friendly staff and a bar open each night. This place has lots of character, very beachy! Highly recommended.

A pretty characterless place...the best thing going for it is the location. Beware the 6 person dorm (actually a 6 person dorm with a single door to another 6 person dorm right nextdoor), lots of people in and out all night. I moved to a much nicer, cosier, friendlier hostel after one night.

this place is very over priced if you get your own room and bathroom - we moved after one night and got a self contained apartment for not much more - the double rooms are tiny - can't comment on the hostel part as didn't check it out. location is great though and it is very clean.
