Good hostel, good value for the money, but only in New York City where everything costs an arm and a leg... My biggest complaint is one of the shared bathrooms in our hall had a sink the size of a salad bowl. I could barely wash my hands in it, never mind wash my face without spilling water out of it. Also, the shower in there had no hot water and no hooks on the wall to hang a towel. It was completely dysfunctional and really slowed down my morning routine. What a great hostel, single beds, lots of space, free bbq 3 days a week.. If i'd ever return to NY, this would be the place to stay for me, no doubt about it. Also, respect to the guy doing the BBQ, he's got a hard job with all the piranha's! Melle, from Netherlands ~ 28th May 2012

My friend and I had a private room with a bathroom which was not cheap at close to $200/night. The sheets were dirty hair in them and stains-yuck!!!! The springs in the bed were really hard and poking me in the ribs all night and there was no screen in the window. So the choice was to be hot and shut it or open it and let bugs in and so high up (not safe). The staff were nice as they came and changed the sheets but we should not have had to tell anyone to do that :( Anne, from USA ~ 22nd May 2012

Very nice, very good location just a few stops from the Morgan L train, which takes you into Manhattan in just a few minutes.Clean beds, good showers, big rooms in the dorms.I will stay here again. I didn't have the free BBQ but it was a good option to have. Sonja, from USA ~ 8th May 2012

The New York Loft Hostel is a very good hostel with modern facilities and clean rooms. The hostel offers free breakfast, wifi, and numerous opportunities to meet new friends. The only thing I didn't like was the cost. This hostel charges a very high rate if you book very early in advance. It is better to book late than early (which I find to be very problematic). Despite the cost, the hostel is very good and would recommend it to anyone visiting New York City. Roy, from USA ~ 29th Apr 2012

This was only the 2nd hostel I've been to in NYC, but we were very pleased. We got a private room and my gf (who'd never been to a hostel) anticipated having to share a bathroom, but we were happy to find the room had our own bathroom. The bunk beds were the type with a twin mattress on top and a full on bottom. The mattress was fine for sleeping, but not a bit uncomfortable for other things. We thought we were going to have to pay $2/each for towels, but we found two in the room. Recommended! Dan, from USA ~ 18th Apr 2012
