It would be good that hour for check-ins be more clear. My room was resold before 8:00PM because hour of arrival was 11:00 AM by default and I did not notice. They found a solution. Eric, from Switzerland ~ 21st Mar 2012

The Phoenix is in a great location - it's two minutes from the (free) Shanghai Museum, ten minutes from the Bund, and located close to subway lines two and eight (if I remember correctly), the subway being the cheapest and easiest way to get into town from Pudong Airport. The hostel staff are extremely helpful and the rooms are clean. Hot water wasn't a problem. There's a rooftop bar run by two cool young Chinese. The hostel as a whole is very good. Conveniently located close to subway. Helpful staff and great atmosphere in the rooftop bar. My only complaint is that my bed was way too hard, which resulted in very little sleep. But on the other hand, you don't travel to Shanghai to sleep! Info: I had the single room.
