The hostel looks nice at the reception and private rooms are clean and comfortable, but dorms are in a pretty bad shape. Beds in our dorm were noisy, shower and bathroom was dirty, only one tiny tiny bin for 8 people in the bathroom, and the window frame was moldy. My friend got a rash during the night. Rooms are pretty humid and they smell a bit odd. The breakfast was good! And the staff was very friendly. Sini, from Finland ~ 25th May 2012

The toilets did not work! That was my main problem with the hostel. Other things: the bathroom was dirty some of the staff was very helpful, others did not seem care atmosphere, what atmosphere?. The only good thing I can say about Royal Bayswater is that it has a good Location, just in front of Hyde Park. For the rest, nothing good. The hostel was very noisy, full of children(13-15y old) the breakfast very poor: bread, butter and corn flakes no free wifi(you have to pay for day) towels was not included, you have to pay nearly 5 pounds for it the room was very tiny for 4 people and smelled bad the room has bunk beds that seems to going to break in any moment. Excellent location, but otherwise a very poor hostel. Very run down and dirty. I was in a 6-bed mixed dorm, with a bathroom off from the dorm. The door to the bathroom wouldn't shut (the door didn't fit the frame) and would swing open in the middle of your shower, not ideal for a mixed dorm! I was with a group of students aged 14-21 in their first school trip to London. Accomodation at Bayswater was great, we've all enjoyed our stay there, location was amazing, opposite Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park. Rooms were basic but nice, comfy beds, heating, hot water - we were very pleased with the facilities considering the costs. We'll definitely stay there again. Since coming to London for work, I have lived in about 7 different hostels for a period of two months. This hostel is by far the worst one in comparison with many of the other hostels I have been to! It has no character what so ever, the staff is rude and not helpful at all, and you get the feeling they are just trying to milk money from you. It seems that hot water is switched off in the evening. Our first night when we came back to shower it was cold.....complained with the reception and they turned it on however it was quite inconvenience since we had to wait until it heated up a bit. It was not clean and the sheets were a little dirty. Very bad that you had to pay 6pounds for the key of the locker. The building is very old. The location is perfect. I have been three times to London. I have not yet found a cheap and good hostel. Filippos, from Greece ~ 13th Mar 2012
