We hated it. For mostly 2 reasons: 1. For anything you wanted you had to climb 5 flights of steep concrete steps without handrails: breakfast? up 5 flights the phone? 5 flights up, register? 5 flights turn in your key? 5 flights up. 2. With 2 open staircases it was cold and clammy. They overcharged us for breakfast, too, but I wasn't going back so I could climb 5 flights of stairs to complain. It's a party house-=drinkers love it & if your knees are 20 instead of 60, it's a different story

My ONLY reservations about recommending this place is the flights of steep stairs required to access your room (just one flight for me)...or to the rooftop play/viewing/eating area (4 flights up from ground).....which is breathtaking especially at night. Anyone with breathing or motor challenges like bad hips or knees would probably be stressed or find it impossible. But for all others, the View from the Top is worth the airfare to Quito! Lots of fun. Food is great, especially breakfast. Music is a little loud for an old guy like me. One of the cleanest hostels I have ever been in. Bathrooms spotless. Hot water is sporadic. Volunteer staff very helpful with day trips and suggestions. Easy to make friends on roof garden. Robert, from USA ~ 20th Aug 2011

Can´t really figure out how this structure was built or for waht purpose originally. Certainly they had no intention of it being for general use. The stair wells are narrow, the steps surprisingly uneven ( some deep some shallow) and some not level. this is not a place to stay for the faint of heart, it will tax your breathing, especially at this altitude. I over heard many comments from the dorm population that they htought it was overpriced with no breakfast. Breakfast was good though and not

Was a little too loud for my liking, but breakfast was good!! There were also much cheaper and comparable options nearby. Celine, from Canada ~ 7th Jun 2011
