FRESH is less of a hostel, and more of a convenient place to stay above the bar known as The Steam Engine. The rooms were super cramped with triple-decker bunk-beds. The mattresses were like sleeping on a bunch of springs under a piece of cardboard. The showers, at least, worked excellently. There is no lounge, just the pub downstairs, but the staff are super friendly and helpful and the pizza is surprisingly amazing. You can't beat the location for the price they offer. The Steam Engine was one of the coolest hostels we stayed at on our trip. Smaller than most but it makes for a great environment. The staff is incredible - really friendly and helpful! Gave us all kinds of recommendations for what to do during our stay in London...Daniel and Albert are the best!!!! The bar in the hostel is great too. Location couldn't be better - just over Waterloo Bridge. Awesome - highly recommend anyone to stay here!! Julia, from USA ~ 18th Apr 2013

The only problem was there were two toilets and two showers for the whole hostel (50+ people). Great location, and a good atmosphere. This hostel is in a great location, and you can see Parliament right across the river. However, London is such a large city that being in the center is irrelevant, because you are going to have to take the Tube each day. The rooms themselves are really small and the beds are some of the hardest that I've ever slept on. The breakfast is pretty basic, but it tastes good. Showers and bathrooms are small and the water temperature is generally scalding hot and nonadjustable. The bar is pretty cool. Daniel, from USA ~ 10th Apr 2013

i had a really amazing time at the steam engine! The staff was very welcomming and helpful. especially Daniel and the italian girl, i cant remember her name just now. everyone of the staff was awesome and i liked them all. when it comes to the cleaning, that was good too, though it wasn't so tempting to shower... all in all i am definetly coming back the soon as possible, to visit them all and the beer garden :)) Josephine Bernal, from Norway ~ 25th Feb 2013

Great location to navigate through London. The doors have codes on them so I felt safe and the breakfast was simple but I'm glad it was there. The price was excellent and the beds were clean and free luggage storage came in handy when we were leaving London in the middle of the day. The staff was friendly and I enjoyed my stay here.
