Toms Guest House in Alice Springs, Hong Kong

Its one of the hundreds in Chunking Mansions, but it has a kitchen with fridge to keep your own stuff and a water dispenser, great if you dont like paying too much on the street for a simple bottle of water. When i was there, end of march 2011, there was a filipine young woman managing the hostel (sorry, i dont remember her name). She is a lovely and kind person, with a genuine smile and happiness, who treated me better than the staff of a four stars hotel. Ten stars for her. Anton, from Spain ~ 3rd May 2012

The Chungking mansions are far from mansions, it's a big grim ram packed tower block. Accomodation is basic but cheap and the location is great for exploring the city. Not somewhere you'd want to come back alone rolling drunk but otherwise OK. The rooms at Tom's are a bit overpriced but I'd avoid turning up here with nothing booked as the touts and dealers outside the mansion (not really a problem) have some incredibly rotten rooms on offer and the prices aren't good for those.
