I chose this dt location, walkable to train stn. Very noisy in street side rm until 2am. coed dorm(no same gender),highlighted light&electric in the bunk,main reason for this choic. Did NOT work,no apologies by staff, did not know how to fix or to give discount.
Thank you for your comments, we always appreciate the feedback. To address your points, when you told the senior manager about the light not working in the bunk bed, you also mentioned that a staff member the previous night had tried to fix it and when the senior manager was told about it, we unfortunately did not have a maintenance person in-house who could look at it. We did apologize for the inconvenience this free feature caused you and would have gladly changed your room or bed if we had understood just how important this was to you. Also, we do have female dorms, but perhaps they were sold out when you made your booking. Unfortuantely there's nothing we can do about street noise as we are located in the center of the entertainment district. We do hope the rest of your travels were more pleasant.

It is the best Hostel which I have been. Organized, clean, all the staff are polite and kind, the location is excellent. The bed is very good. I would highly recommend this hostel (and already have)when visiting San Diego!It was awesome.A little loud if you have a front room over the street, but not bad if you are a sound sleeper!I couldn't have been more pleased and look forward to staying at the sister hostel in San Francisco.Thanks for the great accommodations and hospitality!!! The lockers could be a little bigger, and the plastic covers on the mattresses were loud when anyone tossed and turned at night.But the staff was super friendly, the decore was vivid and entertaining, and there were so many bars and restaurants in the area to explore, and the zoo and Coronado ferry were in walking distance. I had a great stay with USA hostels in San Diego! The rooms were spacious and clean. I especially loved the reading nook in the bed. Can't turn down free pancake breakfast. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that the front door was a little tricky to get into at times. I highly recommend this hostel! Kelsey, from USA ~ 2nd Feb 2012

Parker was such a welcoming & warm person.He was my favorite staff member!I would definitely stay here again and I will tell all my friends.Can you make the pancake batter with a bit more love?I love that you offer them for "all-you-can-make" but it was too thin and it tasted like someone put it through a blender:waaaay too rubbery.Just stir, not blend!And what's up with the loud music at 8am?
