excellent place to stay. Great location. Only downside was the lukewarm shower.

There wasn't enough hot water for two persons. After a tiring day it would have been great. But except that it was one of my best accomodations.

AMAZING location..right in the best part of Venice and in a great area. Very well furnished and clean, well worth the price. Just remember to shut the windows at night, or you'll be covered in Venetian mosquito bites!

This hotel was the least expensive place (34 Euros/night in Dec.) I was able to find in such a great area of Venice (although with Venice being so small, just about any area would have sufficed since everything is within walking distance or a short boat ride, and there are great places to discover throughout that are a lot less expensive than the popular San Marco area (only a 5-minute walk away over the Rialto Bridge) of which I could not see the uniqueness of besides the big church because all there is to do there is shop in expensive stores & pay high prices for things you can get for half the cost in San Polo.) It was really cool being so close to the busy & colorful fish and produce market, yet a peaceful place to sleep. Definitely not a party hotel, really quiet and sedate- a good place to rest after walking around all day. And that's all I need a hotel for. The hotel is clean throughout, and although my room was tiny about 7'x7' with a twin bed (the smallest & least expensive private room w/shared bath they have available,) the space was arranged and decorated in the best way possible for such a small space (I'm a home organizer for a living.) And they have free internet available in the lobby if you have a laptop with WIFI capability! (not the rooms, though.) The bathrooms are clean and big. There is also a living room/common area with a TV but no one ever hung out in it (better for me since my room was right across from it.) The manager helped me up the stairs with my luggage. He is a really nice and cool guy that I ended up having a long conversation with about capitalism and the environment my last night there. Really friendly yet professional person. I highly recommend this place for hostel-type travelers who do not want the loud crampy-ness of your usual busy hostel (but it doesn't have a kitchen.) Apparently there's a Hosteling International place to stay at close to the train station that attracts newcomers who have no idea what to expect when they get there, but it costs 40 Euros to SHARE a room with people & is actually further from the center of town. When you get off the train, it's easy to get around with a map because it's all so small. And most people speak English. You will get the hang of Venice streets & the transportation system within a day if you have a map and a decent sense of direction... so pass up the HI and go to Locanda Poste Vecie. Be sure to get a slice of delicious slice of pizza at the place just over the Rialto bridge- make a left onto the first walkway and you're there. Isabella (Oakland, California USA)
