Anstey's is a funky, fun backpackers with cool shack-like rooms. it is right by the beach and the guys who run it (mick & rob) are friendly and relaxed. if the surf is up, then it must be a dream spot. but when it's mush (like when i was there) then Anstey's feels a bit isolated and there's nothing to do nearby in the evening.

nice location, a short enough trip into centre of durban, although quite far from Gateway and Umhlanga Rocks. Lots of ants in room

This place rocks, the staff are cool (although one of the managers didn't fulfill his forfeit for getting whitewashed during a pool game). The location is right on the beach, with easy transport to the city.
