Our first surprise while entering the room was that the walls didn't go to the ceiling and it was like sharing with next door. Forget about privacy; everything was heard on both parts. The room itself was dark, cold and pretty noisy (screaming italian football suporters woke us up on several occasions). There seemed to be only 2 showers for the whole place and the hot water was very much intermitent. To summarise, don't go there if you want a comfortable and intimate moment in Florence!

Nice place to stay. It's kind of weird because you are definitely staying in someone's apartment, but the people who live there are really nice and the room is spacious. I'd definitely recommend it, with the caveat that you are definitely not staying at a hostel or even at a typical hotel.

We were extremly unimpressed with our stay in Tourist House Ghibellina. We arrived quite late in the evening and had quite a lot of baggage and after walking half way across Florence (after being told the accommodation was close to where we were) we were then advised that our accomodation wasn't in fact at the address we were given but was 'a 5 minute' walk away. After then carrying our luggage all the way back down the stairs, with no offer of help from staff, we then proceded to walk to our new address. The man ho showed us the way walked off with out some of our party and we got lost. If it wasn't for another member of our party coming to find us we may have still been lost in the morning. Once we arrived at the accommodation another couple we were with proceded to have a large argument with the property owner about the state of the accommodation. This was the first of many we witnessed in the 2 nights we stayed there. Which brings me to the state of the hostel. it was being heavily renovated and was basically at a unexceptable state for housing guests. The owner of the hostel was quite rude and forceful and made several advances at one member of our party. Just before he left he grabbed the lady and tried to kiss her. She pushed him off and ran to our room in tears. If we had been in florence for more than 2 nights we would have taken legal action. It was a massive violation of her rights and we felt scared and unsafe for the remainder of our stay. I think you should investigate this matter because this man is not the kind of person whould a reputable company would want representing them. After this inncedent the 3 females of the group wouldn't be in the hostel alone. We wouldn't even go to the bathroom. All in all it was quite a horrible experience. Catherine Carmody

came here with a reservation for 4 people for 3 nights and was immediately taken out of the hostel and put in some random hotel 5 minutes away. Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and then had the last night in the actual hostel. Wish we could have just stayed put the whole time...

I cannot say what the hotel was like because the first thing that we were told upon check-in was some bullshit about the water being broken and that our rooms were in another hotel. The place we were moved to (Hotel Wanda), down the road, was nice enough and we were charged the same price so in the end our stay was OK; however in light of the greed of the owner (not being honest about being overbooked) I wouldn't recommend booking your stay here.
