Favorite hostel ever. Period. Some rate the location lower for being out of town... but if you want an escape for a few days from big city travels, there is NO better place. 10km out of town and it couldnt be better. Great facilities, owner, dog, and vibe. Its called travelers retreat for a reason! Jan is simply amazing and a firecracker, too! Security isnt perfect if you want a locker, but Jan will hold onto things (laptop, passport, etc) and its a small hostel. I spent weeks here.

This was a great hostel! I really enjoyed my stay here. This was my favorite hostel of my entire trip to Europe. Jan, the lady that runs the hostel, is super nice and easy to work with and makes you feel right at home. The hostel is a ways out of Carcassonne but is easy to get to by bus and Jan makes one run into town to drop people off if they want to take advantage of that. It is a very secure hostel as it is out in the country side in a very small community. It is very laid back. It was a very social hostel as well and it was nice sitting out on the picnic tables in the back of the hostel in the evening just talking to others at the hostel. I would highly recommend staying at this hostel. It is well worth the money.

Our stay at this hostel was great. Even though it was some way outside carcassonne the proprieter is very helpful in giving advice on getting around. George, the dog, was a great member of staff that enlightened our stay. The kitchen facilities were better than in any other hostel we stayed in Europe, with herbs and spices at our desposal, plus filter coffee! Something different, because it is a nice farmhouse in a small village. When you like animals like cats and dogs stay here!

remember its 10km away from Carsassonne, so getting there can be difficult if you dont email the owner for instructions. the town its in is so cute and the setup is really cool. just not a lot to do other then take relaxing walks.
