Hostels.com currently works with 31 hostels in Greece. Of these hostels, YHA operates 9 properties and 5 of these are located in Athens. YHA is the only international hostelling company working in Greece. The rest of Greek hostels are privately owned, independent properties.
Almost all hostels here offer dorms and private rooms. Some ensuite bathroom facilities are also provided; the rest are shared. A lot of hostels in Greece have their own bar, where they'll organise parties for their guests. In Athens, hostels are generally centrally located or at least close to the underground system so they're easy to get to.
The high season in Greece lasts from July until mid-September. Advance booking is essential during this period, especially in Athens and for the popular island hostels.
