The resort itself is lovely but there is so so little to do in Dangriga. We felt we had wasted 2 days of our holiday staying there. The staff told us they couldn't book us any tours for 3 days so for us it cost us a lot of money to do very little. Also we were the only people staying at the resort which was a little eerie.

When you arrive in Dangriga ask the taxi driver to take you to the Salty Dog restaurant. It’s next to the Spirit Wind Resort and everyone in town knows and loves the Salty Dog. It’s the best food in town surrounded by friendly people, great music, and lively art on the walls. Ask the owner Anthony to point out his paintings, he’s an outstanding artist. Anthony is the owner of both the Salty dog and the Spirit Wind resort. The resort is still somewhat of a hidden treasure to the locals, yet treasure it is. Anthony has made this riverside paradise breathtakingly gorgeous with tropical flowers and banana trees surrounding each of the classy and comfortable bungalows. It’s clear that Anthony has a deep passion for bringing beauty to his guests. I know I will never forget my stay. I would recommend the Spirit Wind to everyone.

i hate saying anything bad, especially because the employees were very nice but people should know they ripped me off, charging me in american dollars what was in belize dollars on the menu (which means double for food and drinks), and tried to add on other charges at the last minute, asking me to pay whatever they asked on the spot for services rendered with or without my asking for them. they had no basis for why they are asking for the amount they decided on (other than thats what they thought in that moment their time was worth, which even those employees seemed and voiced that they felt put on the spot about). plus the establishment is way too expensive, but without options (only one other resort/hotel, that i was told about) one gets stuck there. the girls that work there are very nice and good company, but overall i felt taken advantage of. i have traveled and stayed in a lot of places too, so i am not a complete sucker, but i did get suckered. at least if you stay here insist that you pay as you go not all at the end. and insist that you pay in their currency. if you do that it should be a much better experience than mine was. on a side note there is a cool museum in town (about the garifuna people, culture, and history), although i was charged double because i am from not local and then they could not make change for me, costing me an extra $2.50 u.s. there are fast talkers is dangriga so beware.
